Fourteenth AAP MLA Arrested in Surat

Just hours before Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal was to go up and address a rally in Surat on Sunday, a Delhi police came and arrested AAP Delhi MLA and Gujarat in-charge Gulab Singh.

The MLA had been camping for a week in Gujarat and was taken into custody and produced before the judge to obtain a transit remand.

He is the 14th Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Delhi to be arrested.

Having anticipated his arrest, Gulab Singh went and presented himself before Satish Sharma, the new Surat Police Commissioner, while Delhi Police team flew into the city carrying with them a non-bailable arrest warrant.

The warrant was issued in connection to an extortion case after he had failed to turn up for interrogation.

Arvind Kejriwal, well ahead of the arrest, accused BJP President Amit Shah, on the last day of his Gujarat tour, for going out of his way to disrupt the rally held by AAP in Surat.

He had made the same allegation when he left Delhi on Thursday night.

“The warrant was issued two days before the rally and today a Delhi Police team has arrived to arrest Gulab Singh, who is Gujarat in-charge,” Mr Kejriwal told journalists.

“This shows the BJP is nervous. Amit Shah has also tried to organise protests against my visit. I appeal to him to not to disrupt the rally as it is not an AAP rally but a rally of Gujarat’s people.”

Gulab Singh, before presenting himself to the cops, told reporters that the charges against him were baseless.

“I am in Surat for the last six days. It is on the day of the rally that Delhi Police has arrived in Surat to arrest me. I am not in touch with those arrested in connection with the case,” he said.

Gulab Singh’s driver was arrested last month along with an associate in Delhi.

Gulab Singh reached the Umra police station shouting slogans such as “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and was accompanied by Delhi Tourism Minister and AAP leader Kapil Mishra.

Mishra took on to twitter and tweeted that the Delhi Police was in quite a hurry to make the arrest before the rally began and had told the legislator that they would return to Delhi by train when tickets became available.

Another One Bites The Dust, AAP Legislator Arrested For Extortion

Continuing the ever growing bond between controversies and Aam Aadmi Party, MLA Gulab Singh Yadav is the entrant in the race.  AAP’s Legislator and in charge of Gujarat affairs, Gulab Singh Yadav recently got arrested for after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him under the claims of an extortion case by Delhi police just few hour before Arvind Kejriwal’s rally in Gujarat.

And following the usual course of his action wherein everybody ( and mostly BJP) is out to get them rant, The Delhi chief minister, Arvind kejriwal called the allegation and the arrest as an intend to “scuttle” his rally and accused the BJP president Amit Shah of “trying to disrupt the Surat programme”.

“I appeal to Amit Shah ji that this is not my rally but that of the public … You see 13 MLAs have been arrested by the Delhi police on the direction from the BJP,” Kejriwal said.

Upon learning the news about the alleged claims, Yadav left the rally to surrender himself at Urma polic station.

“Delhi police had come here with a non-bailable warrant against Gulab Singh Yadav. He learnt about it before hand and came to Urma police station where we handed him over to Delhi police,” Surat Police Commissioner Satish Sharma said.

The Delhi police will take Mr Yadav to a court to secure a transit remand. Before leaving for Umra police station to surrender, Mr Yadav told reporters at the circuit house, “I have learnt that a Delhi police team has come to Surat to arrest me. So I am going to Umra police station to court arrest and ask the Delhi police to pick me from there.”

“I am in Gujarat since September 6 and I was here when the FIR was filed on September 13. The police raided my office and got nothing incriminating. The Centre is directing arrest of AAP MLAs but we are not going to bow down and are ready for any consequences,” he alleged.

As per the claims of two property dealers, Deepak Sharma and Rinku Diwan, that people from Mr Yadav’s office, and an associate Jagdish, were extorting money from them by threatening to get demolished the building from where they were operating.

Henceforth, a case under the section 384 (punishment for extortion) of the IPC was registered at Bindapur police station on September 13.

Further on, Confirming the MLAs arrest, Delhi joint commissioner of police Deependra Pathak said, “He will be brought back to Delhi today to join the probe in the FIR of extortion in which he has also been named.”

Delhi minister Kapil Mishra, who is attending the AAP rally in Surat, said Mr Yadav’s arrest was a turning point in Gujrat politics.

Victim Or Perpetrator: Ahead Of Arvind Kejriwal’s Visit, Banners Feature Him As “Pakistani Hero”

In reaction to the outrageous demand of Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, questioning the intent and authenticity of the center-led surgical strikes, nationalist portrayed him as “Pakistani Hero”

Days ahead of AAP’s rally in Surat, banners carrying his photographs with Burhan Wani, Hafiz Saeed and Osama bin Laden, terming them “heroes of Pakistan”, appeared at different locations across the city on Thursday.

The posters were making a round all throughout Unjha, Gujarat Enunciating a clear link between kejriwal and Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Wani who was killed in Kashmir, 9/11 mastermind Osama bin and Hafiz seed, co-founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba, expressing where their loyalties lie.

However, as per the usual norms it didn’t take our beloved chief minister to use this opportunity against his contenders after the incident. Kejriwal became immensely furious as he was supposed to meet and greet the families of those killed during the Patel agitation, immediately took refuge in blaming BJP for sabotaging his rally in Gujarat.

“The banners had been put up by BJP workers as they don’t want Kejriwal meeting to take place. We have removed eight such banners. We are expecting over one lakh people to attend Kejriwal’s public meeting. AAP leaders Kumar Vishwas and Sanjay Singh will also accompany Kejriwal.”

He added, “Kejriwal will meet Gujarat PAAS spokesperson Varun Patel in Ahmedabad on October 15. We have extended the invitations to Surat PAAS co-convenors Dharmik Malaviya and Alpesh Katheriya and other PAAS members to meet Kejriwal in Surat.”

Surat city BJP president Nitin Bhajiyawala said, “We have told BJP workers that they should not oppose Kejriwal’s visit to Surat. I am sure no BJP worker will do this (put up such posters). A few days ago, a few banners featuring Kejriwal were blackened. They alleged that it was the BJP’s doing. But, later, it was found that AAP worker Ajit Tiwari of Surat was had done that. AAP leaders are resorting to such tactics to get publicity and, on the other hand, they are trying to defame us. We have nothing to do with these banners.”

With Tall Promises and Falling short of practice, AAP’s Former Leader Yogender Yadav blames Kejriwal for putting foot in his own mouth!

In response to the arrest of AAP’s legislator and Gujarat’s in charge, MLA Gulab Singh Yadav, AAP’s former MLA Yogender singh points finger at the AAP’s behavior to be held responsible for such harsh reactions.

With tall promises of bringing alternative politics, AAP has proven to be a party of failures in the wake of its running tenure, and has turned out to be no different than any other party

Although, current swaraj india’s leader conceded that Delhi police and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung are out to catch and victimize the party yet, the actions of AAP MLA’s have time and again given more and more opportunities to the center and L-G to target them.

“On the one hand both Delhi Police and the LG are out to catch and victimize AAP MLAs and if they were to apply the same criteria I think half of the BJP MPs should also be in jail right now. At the same time it is true that the conduct of these MLAs has given the opportunity for the BJP and the Central Government to intervene and that should worry us. It should worry us that the central government is out to victimize the state party,” Yadav said

The Matiala legislator was arrested in connection with an extortion case against his aides after he turned himself in before the Gujarat Police on Sunday. He was arrested hours before the party national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s maiden rally in Surat. Kejriwal said the arrest of the Singh, facing a non-bailable warrant, was intended to “scuttle” his rally and accused the BJP president Amit Shah of “trying to disrupt his Surat programme”.

The rebel MLA of AAP, Devendra Sherawat also commented on the controversy and said “The Delhi CM has not taken any department in the government. This means he is full-time indulged to do politics outside Delhi.”
