The AAP senior leader and the senior Supreme Court lawyer H S Phoolka played with the emotions of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot affected families. Phoolka always claims that he didn’t take even a single penny to fight the cases.

However, the tall claims of Phoolka led him into the troubled waters when the SGPC revealed the startling facts that Phoolka got Rs 42 lakh as legal fees of five lawyers recommended by him to contest the cases of the victims of the Sikh genocide.

The president of SGPC had confirmed the news of Phoolka got money to contest the cases in the courts. As per the information, Phoolka made a proposal for the five lawyers recommended by him and the proposal accepted by the SGPC. Phoolka had taken Rs 42 lakh from the SGPC.

Even Phoolka didn’t submit any status report to the Sikh body and he never bothers to tell SGPC about the problems and hiccups in the cases. It means Phoolka deliberately delayed the cases so that the culprits Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar could get maximum time to tamper the evidence.

The controversy had erupted after Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal alleged that Phoolka took hefty amounts for fighting cases of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims.

As of now, more than eight victims lost their cases in the trial court and the cases were contested by Phoolka’s five juniors. A victim on anonymity basis told that Phoolka deliberately took the case as the victim was not interested to give the case to Phoolka. The victim said that he trusted Phoolka but the case has been lingering on.

The sources told that Phoolka received foreign funding from the different organisations to contest the cases. He never fought the cases free of cost.
